The eHealth Competence Center is supported by three special sections providing
- the scientific background, basic research & development and education enabled by the University of Regensburg eHealth Department (eHealth Department),
- applied research & development, product specification and gap closures featured in co-operation with, e.g., the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (eHealth Co-ordination Group) as well as
- administrative authorities’ work such as international harmonisation as well as quality and interoperability assurance through profiling, testing, evaluation and certification performed by an eHealth Agency (eHealth Agency).
The three sections’ work is strongly influenced and supported by, as well as strongly influences and supports, scientific associations such as the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA), the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI), projects and organisations such as the EuroRec Institute, international ProRec Centres (especially the ProRec Centre Germany), industry, governmental bodies, standards developing organisations, etc.
